Saturday May 26, 2007 (Day 32) Contrary llamma
Hubby wants to have llamma's I'm partial to alpaca's but really, I just hope some day a petting zoo fits into our lifestyle. These fiber artists who own llaamas were at the farmer's market today with 3 of thier llammas -they drew a crowd of interested bystanders - mostly kids -and us. We can be kids at heart sometimes I suppose......
I was reading an article in concieve and it was talking about nurturing your relationship during infertility treatment - it said some couples go a whole day without touching once. I can not imagine this in our house. My husband and I hold hands when we walk - we sit close when we can. That sounds like a sad day to go 24 hours without touching the person you love. I guess the point was intimacy outside of TTC - but to me that is a given - how would you make it through such a difficult struggle without the comfort and nurturing of your partner/spouse? I am grateful that is at lesat one thing I do not have to work at in my life - nurturing intimacy with my partner. Of course I would work at it if necessary - I'm just grateful I don't have to.

Friday May 25 (day 31) Plaza Tower behind water
I had a long day friday - lately my hospital days have been longer and longer - I used to get off at 1 on fridays (I work a long day monday so i can do this)- but this week it wasn't until after 5:30. It was nice to relax and take a short walk with my sweet after. I think the playfullness of the water spray here is a good image for a friday night.

Tuesday, May 22 (day 28) snake head
After work I was hoping to see the baby bluejay next door. The parents were squacking and raising a storm - so hubby climbed the fence to invesitage. He discovered this snake trying to eat the baby sparrows - so he moved it under our shed (to keep the mice away). He loves snakes and this was the first black snake of the year.
Maybe tomorrow I'll catch a glimpse of the baby jay - I'd better hurry as we noticed all of the baby birds seem to be hopping out of thier nests this week - taking first flight of the year.

Monday, May 21 (day 27) poppy crop
just one poppy bloomed in my garden -I snapped a quick photo in the AM in case I couldn't find another shot AND in case the poppy wasn't there another day - and what do you know the next day the petals started to fall ...

Sunday, May 20 evening fishing scenes -sunday night after work
We've recently discovered this wonderful little park nearby - it was there all along but I thought it was smaller and didn't realize it had so much to offer in the way of ponds and wildlife - I just thought it was the offic space for Parks and Rec with a small creek. well, I was so wrong -its a really nice place to take a walk and a few photos - talk to people or not, have lunch, feed the geese....
on this particular occasion I got off work on Sunday evening and needed a short walk with my sweetheart to unwind.

Saturday, May 19 (day 25) body art DSC_0311
a day at the market seldom disappoints.
usually you can find at least one compelling image from a trip to the market on a saturday. I love the mix of culture, arts, crafts, wholesome foods and just people of every shape size and interest. I wish there were more places like this in the city.

Friday, May 18 (day 24) pineapple print shape DSC_0290
we didn't actually get one of these pineapple but we did get some yummy fish to grill out.
mmmmm I love pineapple - one of the many things to love about summer - all of the juicy fruits that are available.

Thursday, May 17 (day 23) grape leaf at night - ordinary time
when i come home we have to walk the dogs out to the garden - this is a grape leaf. after the week of hard freeze earlier this year we were worried it wouldn't revieve but it's looking healthy. (no flash, no tirpod, no energy.)
yes I'm embarrassed to post a not ver intersting photo for the third day in a row.
If the post time says 11:59 i probably uploaded the photo later in the week or even the nest week and backdated the post. If you want to know when the photo was taken go to my flickr page and look at the photos properties. It'll give the time and of course today's date.

day 22 may 16 DSC_0283
another night when i was too busy to take a picture -so I'm driving up and down johnson drive looking for something I haven't already done. what do you want when you get off at 9,/930 pm? its dark i forgot to put a tripod in the car. Days like this I wonder if this sort of photo misses the point of taking a photo every day - but it does make me carry my camera and look for photos wherever I go - so maybe even if some of the shots are worthless in and of themselves - the intention of taking a photo every day will still help me to look at the world aroudn me a little more closely for the comming year.

First I want to make it clear - i have never shopped here - it's not a very good representative of what I did today - but I do like hearts and I like neon signs when they are not in my neighborhood. this store is on my drive home to work -and on such an ordinary day I needed a photo

Day 11 of 365 Pow Wow May 5 2007
Gratitude today: I am grateful for the beautiful weather and to this gentleman and a few others for letting me take thier photos. I am grateful to have the chance to observe the beautiful dancing today and for all of the nice people we met. I look forward to my next pow wow.
This gentleman was very gracious to let me photograph him. I am in need of much practice photographing people - but I was inspired by this excellent photographer whose work I saw at the Brookside art fair last night. I never get the lighting or setting right with people - becuase I feel so shy about the whole business.
It was quite warm today - and we were outside all afternoon so I am quite tired. I can only imagine all of the dancers in full regalia must be so tired and hot. I really enjoyed seeing the dances though.

Day 8 Wed May 2 tree reflection On workdays my world is very small

Today I visited grandparents briefly before work - it's nice to have time to do that - even if only for an hour or so. Wednesdays I go in at 1 so I can visit or do chores and such in the morning. While I don't like having a different schedule or working late -the Wednesday mornings will be missed when I go to days.
I heard an interview with Ann Quindln on the radio this morning - I really am ashamed that I have not read any of her books - I must remedy that when I finish my 2 main knitting projects. She was giving a talk at a local church tonight -I wish I could have gone. I'm definitely putting her on my summer reading list.
Ok I just relaized htat (1) this is posting really small - you can make the photo out much better on flickr. & (2) the comments I've written under my photo don't post - which mean my gratitudes don't show up. So -starting today I'll remedy that.
"GRATITUDE: I'm grateful I could help hubby with something tonight as he does so much for me. AND I'm grateful for the feel of the weather today.
I love the feel and smell right after a late afternoon rain. It's not muggy like a daytime rain -its cool and the breeze lifts the scent and feel of water to my skin in a gentle carress, carrying me elsewhere for a few short moments, reminding me how an evening by the sea would feel. Thank you for the cool treat, summer rain!"

Day 4 4/28 we also went to the market today. this guy alwasy makes a good photo whenever he is there. I think I could make a whole collection of just him.
I love the market on saturdays. some day when we don't have a lot else going on that weekend -I want to get there first thing in the morning and not leave until the vendors all break down at night - with my camera of course.

DAY 3 upload of 364 4_27_07 405 pm rainbow leads to graveyard
Day 3 of photo a day 4/27/07. This was taken when leaving a visit to grandpa in the rehab a storm came in and I knew about this graveyard on the way home -so I stopped for a few photos. Actually the last time he was in this same rehab - one or two years ago - i took some shots at this same graveyard on the way home one night - though not in the rain.
We also went to an art openign at the Liapold Gallery tonight - interesting; and we had dinner at Carmen's. Carmen's was overpriced and nto worth it. It was ok just not that impressive. We won't go back unless it's free.

blue and green butterfly
A little blue becuase there was a baby shower going on at work right next to my office for the entire afternoon. It was loud so I couldn't avoid tinking about it. I had a bit of a sniffle for a time but I did keep on plugging unitl the work was done - so that was good.
On the up side hubby got a job offer - so starting in May our financial picture is more hopeful - and thus the hopes of our being able to afford whatever we need to do to get a youngster of our own.

grandpa's airplane
It got me thinking, if I could only have a few momentos of my younger life in a hospital or nursing home -what would I keep? I don't have any kids - so it would have to be my own selfiish pursuits. I suppose a photo of Wes and I kayaking -one of my butterfly shots - maybe the pups - shots of my family, especially lil sis being a ham. - and a couple of shots of wes when we are hiking. What do those selections tell about me? It's not the whole picture -there is nothing in there to indicate my time spent knititng - or anything to do with my work, or anything about food and cooking. I guess when it comes down to it either those things don't define me as much as I thought - or they just don't photograph well.
Fellow bloggers - what do you think you would choose if you could only have one photo board full of images & the few items that would fit on your bedside table to remind you of your life outside the hospital?

missed opportunity
I should have gone to pilates but my tummy wasn't cooperating so I convinced myself I'll go to the makeup class on friday -and today I enjoyed some tea.
So what fabulous picture did I miss? We have a bench in the back yard where we scatter seed for the birds - and on the bench a squirrel and a male cardinal were eating in harmony. It would have been a perfect shot they way they were positioned - but by the time I went in the other room for my camera - they were gone.
Now every morning I am going to hope for that picture to show itself again.....
